Some Calibration Issues Won’t Trigger DTCs
Calibration is important because it ensures that the sensors and systems are working correctly and communicating. But be aware: Some calibration issues do not trigger Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Calibration is crucial because it ensures that sensors and systems function correctly and communicate accurately. During calibration procedures, underlying issues may come to light, even if they don’t directly cause a DTC.
For instance, an out-of-alignment sensor might not generate a DTC, but it can still impact the accuracy of the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Therefore, calibration remains critical even when no DTCs are present.
Loss of calibration can occur due to specific events, such as windshield replacement, alignment adjustments, minor collisions, or repairs involving component removal and replacement.
While DTCs provide valuable insights, they don’t always reveal the complete picture of a vehicle’s condition. If you routinely clear DTCs and return vehicles to customers, consider updating your standard operating procedures (SOPs) to include calibration as recommended by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). We can perform these calibrations for you, clearing bay space, and providing you a new profit center! Just pocket 15%. We’ll even pick up and drop off your vehicles, typically same day.🚗🔧
